Graphic User Interface Gets Better Optimized

Compared with version 8 and version 9, the redesigned graphic user interface of DVDFab 10 looks just amazing. All the buttons, tabs, and menus are relocated in the way users will feel most comfortable with. The left panel in version 8 and version 9 is now totally gone, and users get a vast space to operate on the DVD, Blu-ray or video to be processed. In the Copy module, the copy mode switcher is now located near the top left corner, right under the DVDFab logo, and the advanced settings panel is available by clicking the wrench icon right behind the movie title you are operating on. Similarly, in the Ripper and Converter modules, the copy mode switcher is replaced by the conversion profile switcher, the advanced settings panel, and the video effect settings panel are now can be called up via the wrench and pencil icons respectively.

The biggest change comes from the Creator module, unlike version 9 where users have to click the next button again and again in order to proceed with each setting, now in DVDFab 10, by clicking the wrench icon behind the “My DVD/Blu-ray” title, users are able to customize every detailed setting as they want. In a word, operations are getting easier than before.

Different Modules Now Work Side by Side at the Same Time

To be frank, in both version 8 and version 9, to get the copy, ripper, converter and creator to work at the same time is almost next to impossible, unless users allow DVDFab to run multiple instances at the common settings panel. However, by enabling that option, it means each time users open a new instance, there will be a new entry of DVDFab appears in the process column of the computer’s task manager window.

The side effect of this is that more RAM and computing resource of your computer are taken so that the software becomes more vulnerable in terms of stability. But with the newly released DVDFab 10, this problem has been addressed, as the developers totally revamped the task managing logic, based on much more stable software architecture and framework. I ran my own tests by converting one of my DVDs in the Ripper module, and at the same time, making a Main Movie ISO backup of that same DVD, plus a video conversion task in the converter module, and a video in the Creator module that I want to make a DVD.

To my surprise, the software runs perfectly without any issue, I can at the anytime pause, resume and even cancel a task, then the software will by default pick up the next one to process. I can even reload a canceled task from the Archived Task list with my own personal settings I have chosen last time. This is really a sweet feature.

Back in version 8 and version 9, it will take from 2 to 3 minutes to decrypt a DVD or Blu-ray disc. Good news is that with DVDFab 10, the average decryption time on DVDs is insanely decreased to around 10 seconds. Think of opening a disc with a blink of eye, doesn’t it sound amazing? Thanks to its newly Cloud Decryption Service that makes this blazing fast decryption happen. Although the real speed may vary from your actual internet speed, considering the reality that it is cloud based, it throws the competitors far behind in this regard.

And on my old machine which runs only a Core i3 CPU, it only took me 10 minutes to finish copying the DVD main movie off the disc. While the competitors are still eating their old lunches, DVDFab is already thinking forward. By introducing the DVDFab Mini and DVDFab Remote, Fengtao Software brought us some real innovations here. Over the years, I have kept my eyes open on other similar products in this area, such as the SlySoft AnyDVD, Aiseesoft, VSO software and many others, none of them really make impressive features these years. But Fengtao Software never stops trying to make a dent, like the Cinavia removal solution introduced in version 9, and now the DVDFab Mini and DVDFab Remote in DVDFab 10.

DVDFab Mini is a simplified version of DVDFab 10, and it features only the very basic functions of the full version. Its core value is to make things much easier, to the minimal in terms of complexity. To copy or to convert a disc, now users only need to load that disc, and choose a copy mode or conversion profile, and then bang! Task already in progress! What makes this Mini version a real kicker is that the custom profiles users saved in the full version can be automatically imported here. This means, if you save a profile for the kid’s play iPad, then he can use DVDFab Mini on his own when you do not have time to help him convert a cartoon.

While the DVDFab Remote is totally another thing which extends DVDFab’s reach to the mobile devices, but only Android powered devices for the time being. The Remote app lets users do other chores in the house when they set DVDFab 10 to perform its own tasks alone. To test this handy app, I started my DVDFab 10 to convert the DVD I mentioned above to my Galaxy S6, and at the same time burn the main movie to a blank DVD. When all is ready, I left the room to prepare the lunch for the kids, keeping only the Galaxy S6 in my front pocket.

Several minutes later when I checked on my S6 screen, I saw the conversion task almost hit 90%, when it finally finishes, the burning task starts automatically, after about another 10 minutes, a push notification appears, telling me that I need to throw a blank DVD disc into the optical drive to continue the burning task. I then went back to the computer room and did as asked and then returned to my chores in the kitchen. This time DVDFab didn’t bother me again until I pulled the phone out of my pocket to check the task status — the burning task has already finished. After taking the burnt disc out from the computer, I directly threw it into my home DVD player. The playback was flawless.

These main tools are 'Copy', 'Ripper', 'Converter', and 'Creator'. We will be mostly using the DVD ripper and converter. The creator tool can be used to create a DVD/Blu-Ray disc from any movie file. You can create a DVD/Blu-Ray from videos captured through your digital DSLR camera.

Smartphone Specific Conversion

DVDFab 10 has inbuilt profiles for various smartphones. You can convert your DVD movies according your iPhone's screen resolution. All you need to do is to select your phone from the list and it will apply pre-configured profile for your phone. This saves time and you don't need to set screen resolution or change any setting during conversion. Works With Several DVD Burning Software

DVDFab 10 lets you choose your burning ROM among NERO, VSO and ImgBurn. The default burning ROM is provided by the DVDFab 10. To select your burning ROM go to 'Settings>Drives>DVD Write>Burning Engine'. Click it and select your favourite disc burning ROM from the list.

How To Configure Settings

DVDFab 10 provides a vast list of settings that you can configure yourself if you are an advanced user. However default settings will also work great. You can change several settings for DVD/Blu-Ray like removing CSS, RC (Region Code), RCE etc. You can also remove Cinavia protection in case of Blu-Ray discs. There are many settings that you can change according to your needs if you are an advanced user.

How To Rip DVD/Blu-Ray and Convert Videos in DVDFab 10

Ripping and Converting both are same. But when we use a DVD/Blu-Ray as a video file source for video conversion then the converting process is called DVD ripping. But when we directly use a video file from a hard disk or any storage device then this process is simply called video conversion. So we will show you how to convert videos and it will automatically cover the DVD/Blu-Ray ripping procedure. See the image below before converting a video.

• Open DVDFab 10 and click 'Add'. If you insert a DVD/Blu-Ray then it will be automatically read by this software.
• To remove the file click the 'x' delete button.
• Then click the button just before the 'Add' button where you are seeing 'Samsung Gear VR' in the above image. Clicking this button will let you select the video format or device from the list. See the image below.

  When you click 'Format' then then 'Video' tab will be auto selected and you can select any video format like AVI, FLV or MP4.

  You can click '3D Format' if you are converting videos for a 3D TV or a 3D device.

  To launch device specific conversion click 'Device' then select your device manufacturer. Suppose you have Apple iPhone 7. So first click 'Device' then click 'Apple' in left panel. Then select 'iPhone 7'.

  Before conversion click the 'Video conversion settings' that is the 'wrench' button to change conversion settings if you are converting videos for unlisted devices. You can change the screen resolution of the video, video quality, audio, frame rate and encoding method. See images above to locate the 'wrench' button. See this image below to change settings.

• Now click 'OK' then click 'Start'. A new converter window will open.
• Wait for few minutes till the conversion completes. Video conversion will depend upon the file size. If you are using Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU then this will not take much time. Since DVDFab 10 supports Intel Quick Sync and Nvidia CUDA. These two technologies perform the video conversion at a faster rate.
• When the conversion is finished click the folder next to the converted video. From this folder you can copy or move the file to your phone or external hard disk and play them on any media player.
  
• How To Edit Videos in DVDFab 10
    Please head over and see the images to find the video editing button.
    To edit a video first add it then click the 'Video editor' button. Scroll above and see the second image from the starting of this post.
    When you click the editing button a video editor will like this below. You can see editing options like 'Trim', 'Crop', 'Watermark', 'Subtitles', and 'Video'.
•   In the 'Info' section you can rotate the video and change the 'Aspect Ratio'.
    Click 'Trim' to cut a video and see the image below.
  

  To quickly select the trim section use the trim slider below the play button. Move the two white points forward or backward to select a trim section.

  Alternatively if you don't want to use the trim slider then use the trim start and end point markers. You can play the video from anywhere and mark trim points.

  You can click the 'Invert' button to invert the trim select. Suppose you have selected the trim section of your video so if you click the 'Invert' button then DVDFab 10 will skip that trim section and select other parts of the video. The  inverted trim section will automatically merge different trim sections.

  Finally click 'OK' then click 'Start' to convert your trimmed video.

  Similarly you can check other editing options like 'Crop', 'Watermark', 'Subtitles' and change the brightness, contrast and saturation in the 'Video' tab.

How to Download and Convert Online Videos

You can download online videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Veoh, Metacafe, FC2 and niconico. To download and convert videos please follow the steps below.

  Click the 'Converter' tab from main tools and then click 'Download'.

  A new browser page will open. Go to YouTube and play your video.

  You will see a blue 'Download' button on top left. Click this button and select the video quality.

  Click the 'Download' tab to see the download progress of that video.

  Click the folder button to locate that video and also click 'To Creator' if you want to convert this downloaded video.

How to Use DVDFab Remote

Suppose you are ripping or converting a large file. So you don't want to sit all the time in front of your computer. So with DVDFab remote you can see the real time conversion progress on your android smartphone. You can check the percentage of video converted on your android phone. You will get notifications on your DVDFab remote app if DVDFab 10 stops working or need attention. It will also notify you when the video gets completely converted.
