DVDFab Media Player Now Supports to Play Back HEVC (H.265), UHD (Ultra High Definition) and 4K Videos

The ABCs of HEVC, UHD and 4K Videos

Before jumping into the subject, it’s better to have a general knowledge about the jargons like HEVC, UHD and 4K first. HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding), aka h.265, is the next-gen successor to the Advanced Video Codec (AVC), aka H.264. HEVC is said to be able to double the data compression ratio compared to H.264 at the same level of video quality, or to provide substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate. UHD (Ultra High Definition), with a resolution of 3840×2160, is a consumer display and broadcast standard evolved from Full HD with a resolution of 1920×1080. While 4K, with a resolution of 4096×2160, is a professional production and cinema standard originally derives from the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI).

Overall Support to HEVC (H.265), UHD and 4K Videos

On Aug. 14, 2014, DVDFab Media Player for Mac 2.0.12 was released, and then, just two days later (on the 16th), the Windows edition ver. 2.4.3.6 was out too. These two updates were rolled out mainly for the same purpose, to add the support to play back HEVC (H.265), UHD and 4K videos. Although not the first one in the world to add this feature, the developers at DVDFab are quite confident that they are going to lead the industry again, as they have already done that in their reputed DVD/Blu-ray backup software.

Probably the Best HEVC/UHD/4K Media Player so Far

Time never stops its steps, even for just a second. The same happens to the evolution of film industry. Guys from that sector are secretly developing the next-gen video standards, and they have been arrived at really impressive and positive achievements so far. HEVC (aka as H.265), UHD and 4K are what are going to replace the current H.264, Full HD and 2K standards in the very near future. Searching on the internet, there are already some player apps said to support playback of HEVC, UHD and 4K videos, however the reality is that most of those apps are quite buggy. That encouraged developers at DVDFab to make it better in their own media player product line. They thus threw huge effort to develop, test, redevelop and retest its players to make sure everything works magically well on both Windows and Mac platforms, HEVC (H.265), UHD and 4K videos play quite smooth, images are shaper and ultra clear.
